
Investment Manager
Dr. Alexander C. Wenz joined Beyond Capital Partners as an Investment Manager in June 2019. Alexander is part of the investment team and assesses investment opportunities across all economic sectors. Additionally, he is involved in the strategic development and operational improvement of portfolio companies.
After gaining initial experience in consulting and banking, Alexander joined L.E.K. Consulting, an international strategy consultancy, full-time, while still completing his PhD. As an associate, he was involved in more than 15 cases/ deals. Alexander advised corporate as well as private equity clients (AUM: €1-25b) on buy and sell side investment decisions and on strategic matters. As such, he was involved in commercial due diligence and market assessments projects as well as the conceptualization of growth and internationalization strategies for private equity portfolio companies and corporate business units. Among other, Alexander was involved in the buy and sell side processes of the medical apparel provider 7days, the implant and medical technology manufacturer Klingel, the clinical ophthalmology operator Artemis, the CAD/ CAM dental milling machinery manufacturer Amann Girrbach, and the waste recycling service provider Der Grüne Punkt (DSD). Especially Alexander’s analytical capabilities proven useful to build market models and analyze management plans predominately covering the MedTech, healthcare, technology, and industrial manufacturing sectors. Alexander also worked in multiple offices across Europe including Munich, Paris and London, additionally he cooperated with US colleagues.
In 2018, Alexander joined the Swedish private equity investment fund Triton as a visiting investment professional. As a junior team member, Alexander was involved in multiple investment assessment. Among other, he was part of the investment team that closed the acquisition of IFCO, a worldwide leading provider of reusable trays that are primarily used in retail to transport fruit and vegetables.
Alexander holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship and Corporate Finance from the EBS University in Oestrich-Winkel. His dissertation addressed and analyzed performance effects, conflict potential, and organizational solutions for parent companies that acquire innovative targets (i.e. business model innovation). Moreover, ambidextrous organizations as potential target structures are analyzed. Additionally, Alexander holds a Master of Science in Economics from Imperial College London and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the EBS University, during his BSc he also spend a semester abroad in the US.
